Alone Time

You may recall a few weeks ago we hosted Drew's first sleep over with his friends Mason and Troy.   Well Friday night it was time to reciprocate - Drew went over to their house for his first sleep over (one that isn't at Grammy and GrampC's).

So what are this Mama and Daddy to do with some alone time?  I'll tell you what - I challenged Dave to give me a night out.  He needed to do all the planning and I'd go along for the ride.  Here I am thinking this whole time we'd probably go to a movie and dinner at a local restaurant we can't go to because Drew would puke at the thought of being forced to eat something other than chicken and french fries.

Dave surprised me alright, with a dinner in Half Moon Bay!  When he told me about the restaurant, and showed me the online menu, it looked like a pretty upscale place - Sam's Chowder House.  Let's just say when we arrived to our 7pm reservation more than an hour early we were feeling slightly over dressed for what could be described as a non-chain like Red Lobster.  Oh well, we had an AWESOME view from our table.

And the food was pretty good too - although Dave was a little disappointed that the menu they had online had changed (it's seasonal) so the fish he wanted to order was no longer prepared the same way.  We made up for it with dessert....

Gotta love a cheesecake with oreo crust and blackberry mousse!

After dinner we drove the whole whopping block to a Wine Bar.  I mean, what's a date night without wine?!  We won't mention the 2 glasses we had at dinner.

At this wine bar, we enjoyed a flight of wine, each trying something different.  It was kind of nice - and brought us back to the week before when we were on the Napa Wine Train.

It's kind of hard to tell by this picture (which shows up better on my phone) but these are not full glasses, but better pours than you get at most wineries!

Not wanting to be so far away from home and drinking, we decided to make our way back to an establishment closer to home.  So we headed over to Forbes Mill Steakhouse to meet up with one of Dave's softball friends who works there and have a drink.  Unfortunate for us, he was already done working, but joined us for drinks - along with some other friends who stopped in unexpectedly.

Deciding we were still a little hungry and munchy we headed across the way to Denny's where we happen to run into someone from Church.  We ask him to join us, and finish the evening after 1:30am.  Talk about a long date night!  I can't remember the last time I was up that late!

The best part was picking Drew up the next morning - he was so excited to see us (although he did tell Ms. Stephanie he didn't want to go home earlier that morning).  Gotta love the kid swap and the alone time it gives you!
