Reading Glasses Please

Last week Drew wanted to read a new book. But before he would open the book he announced he needed his reading glasses.

Reading glasses? What?  Did I just hear that right?  Confused I asked what the heck his reading glasses were. Then he said, "My black ones".




So now a happy kid can read - indoors that is.

Pool Season Has Arrived!

With warm sun and temperatures reaching about 80 degrees this past weekend we pulled the pool out for the first time this season!  Drew lived it up (and mommy who was sunbathing took a dip or two to cool down).

Hey Dad... You Wanna Have a Catch?

Finally - the beautiful weather arrived to Northern California.  We took full advantage of it as was evident earlier this week with Drew's Allergy Attack by enjoying the outdoors.  On Sunday after church we enjoyed playing outside and soaking up the sun and near 80 degree temperatures.

After hanging around a bit, Dave and Drew decided to hit a few rounds of baseballs - and Drew did 2 rounds as a lefty, which he is naturally as a batter - and one round righty, which took some extra thinking and coaching.  That's right, Daddy is teach Drew at 3 years old how to be a switch hitter.

Afterward they played catch...

Daddy had to help Drew get comfortable with catching the grounders and learning how to open/close the glove.

Don't worry all you family members who are coming out next week for Lisa's wedding... Dave's doing a nice weather dance for you. We'll try and keep the warm temperatures around.

Oh Go Fly a Kite

Last week when I knew Dave had to go to softball (or was it just that a baseball game was on) I decided to take advantage of the windy afternoon and bring Drew to the park to go fly a kite.  Tata and Abuela sent the kite to him a few months ago, and it was finally the right weather here to take advantage of it.

So we drove down the street to the park and instead of hitting the playground we went uphill a bit further to the "grassy knoll".  Drew wanted to play with the kite for a whopping 30 seconds.  When I then started playing with it he suddenly became reengaged.

Yeah that last a whole 60-seconds before he decided he wanted to hit the playground.  That's when I lasted about 20 minutes before I froze my tush off and I forced him home.

3 YO's Driver's Ed Lesson

Easter weekend we walked to our neighborhood park for some outdoor fun.  On the way home Drew came upon a U Turn sign and his own opinions about what the sign meant....



That's right that sign doesn't mean "no U Turn" it means don't go upside down. Now how many of you got that wrong on your Driver's Ed Test?

It's Not Pink Eye - I swear

Double dose of blogs today....

Our morning started with a not-so-quick visit to the walk in pediatric clinic (who knew everyone and their mother shows up on a Monday morning to the walk-in clinic).  The reason, Drew had what looked like pink-eye last night (but also looked like it could be allergies) and then woke up this morning with both eyes looking bad.

I gave him another dose of Benedryl and then we trekked to the pediatrician.  One good thing came of it... Drew weighs over 30 lbs finally (31.6 to be exact).

You can't tell from this picture, but he looked like he had 2 black eyes, and his eyes were really red (worse after we left the pediatrician and he itched them.

Drew happily played with my phone while we waited for our turn...

Diagnosis, just allergy eyes.  Continue to give him Benedryl only once a day and the Zyrtec (which he gets daily anyway).  They also told us to pick up some over-the-counter eye drops which should help cut down on the itchiness.

Am I ever glad I brought him in, as I suspected the teachers took one look at him and asked if I wasn't sure he didn't have pink eye.
