Reliving his 20s?

Pool season finally arrived this weekend - and to celebrate we joined some of Dave's softball friends for a pool party at their apartment complex.  Dave sometimes forgets he's not 20 years old anymore when he tries to keep up with the young'uns.

Poor Drew didn't have anyone to play with - other than me and Dave when he took him into the pool - so he pretty much kept to himself playing games on my phone or with his Mobigo all afternoon. He really was happy though!

Drew and I ditched Daddy when the sun went behind that building - it got cold REALLY fast, especially this time of year when the wind kicks up in the evening.  Daddy continued to party like he was still in his 20s too.

Pool Season Has Arrived!

With warm sun and temperatures reaching about 80 degrees this past weekend we pulled the pool out for the first time this season!  Drew lived it up (and mommy who was sunbathing took a dip or two to cool down).

Heat Wave!

For about the third time this summer we've experienced a heat wave. This is by far the coolest summer  I've ever experienced.  But since it was hot again and Daddy was at his softball game, Drew and I went back down to the pool.

He was so excited about his muscle suit last time that he asked for it again.  That and his floatie.  He was in the water all by himself when he went in the deep end (the water was too cold for me to get all the way in).  But have no fear, I was right on the side of the pool in case I needed to jump in quickly.

He did great in the water.  I know he'll love it when his swimming lessons start (the day after his birthday).

Only one thing, he refused to use a towel to dry off. Instead he did kangaroo hops around the pool.  After about 1 1/2 laps he decided he was dry enough to walk home.

I managed to get the "muscle man" in between the little hops.

Pool Party

On Sunday we headed to Antioch to meet up with my friend Nicole who I've known since Junior High days and when we both moved to town.  She basically lived behind us and we rode the bus together, went to church together... etc.

She now lives in the great state of Hawaii and before that it was Washington... needless to say we don't see her much.  Well she's in town visiting with her now 14-month old son Griffin and what better excuse for a pool party than to see longtime friends.

Drew and Griffin got along quite well - that's to say Drew wasn't throwing sucker punches on Griffin like he did when we saw them last for Griffin's baptism about a year ago.  Drew was ever so patient when Griffin tried to play with him - he's still learning what's rough play vs "nice" play.

Griffin on the left, Drew on the right.

After eating we let the boys play in the pool - and this should be read that Mommy intentionally left her suit behind so Daddy would have to take Drew swimming!  I mean, who else would take the pictures right?

It's so great when you don't always see friends everyday, but when you do see them you pick up right where you left off.  Of course I'm sure Facebook helps keep you informed of everything too....

Pool Season Arrives!

Hot Fun in the Summertime!

That's right the warm weather finally arrived this past weekend.  And on Saturday while I was at my parent's house working on the cookbook, Daddy and Drew blew up the pool for the first time this season.

And what's pooltime without a little bubbles added to the mix?

Dave said Drew only wanted to stay outside for about 30 minutes - and he going potty for about half of that (he brought the potty chair outside to prevent Drew puddles throughout the house - thanks!)

Hopefully he can get more use out of it throughout the week.

Pool Party!

Since Mr. Brian was turning the big 4-0 we were invited over to his house to celebrate with a pool party (his wife Stephanie watches Drew).

Despite appearances, Drew was dressed in a swimsuit, at one point but was stripped down to his water diaper when he was annoyed with the floaties inside the suit.

Once we finally got there - 3 hours late thanks to the one day Drew decided to take a long nap - we hit the water. Temps were hovering around the 100-degree mark, so the pool while cool felt fabulous.

Afterward we grubbed on some great Mexican food that Stephanie slaved over - ok not really, but it was yummy all the same. Drew was perfectly happy playing in their backyard where he loves to spend his weekdays. On and around their play structure. (please ignore the big stain on his rear where he apparently sat in some of the previously mentioned Mexican food)....

Playing ball with Daddy

As I've mentioned previously, Drew's partial to Pepsi. So when he spotted an unopened can just lying there in the grass... he was instantly pleased with himself.

That's when we told him to show Brian his Pepsi find... see how great that blue can looks next to the Corona bottle?

Parties at the Nejib house are always a lot of fun, and now that Drew's becoming more independent we're able to enjoy ourselves more now too. Happy Birthday again Brian!

Pooltime, BBQ, & Friends - The Good Life

The best part of summertime has to be the pool parties, BBQ's and friends! That's exactly what we did this past Sunday. After naptime we joined my friend Lisa and her family at the neighborhood pool. There were probably 20-25 of us relaxing in the pool and just enjoying everyone's company.

Drew managed to get some time in the kiddie pool, while the older kids played football, baseball and swam in the bigger pool.

Drew's buddy Mason (Ms. Stephanie's oldest son) was happily hanging out with Drew for dessert - chocolate chip cookies.

Drew of course can't forget his other best bud - Troy, who's Ms. Stephanie's youngest and is 9 months older than Drew.

The kiddie pool was pretty cool, with little fountains of water coming out the side of the pool. I guess Troy thought you may need to do some snorkeling in the fountains...

It was a nice day, but we can't wait to go back when it's even warmer out. Thanks for a great afternoon Lisa!

Muscle Boy

So as I mentioned previously the scorching hot weather brought us to the pool this weekend.. well Drew to the pool in our backyard. Some of his antics were hilarious! Like his muscle man/Hulk Hogan impersonation.

And that's not all the crazy antics he did that day. As is now custom, he had to share his love with everyone - oh, and the Dodgers!

Keeping Cool

Poor Drew was desperate for some relief this weekend with the temperatures reaching the 90's on Sunday! He wouldn't nap again, which is becoming a tragic trend. This time was likely due to the heat. We probably could've turned on the AC, but I guess we were trying to save a buck in this economy.

After Mommy's blissful 2-hour nap, we came up with a winning idea. Bring the pool outside and let the kid go to town. As you can see it was a big hit for the little boy who no longer has red cheeks from the blistering temps.

Drew loved taking his balls and watching the water drip off of them, splashing himself in the face, and then throwing every ball out of the pool. The best part was waiting for Mommy or Daddy to toss the balls back - making a large splash.

It's supposed to be warm for a few days, so the little pool may get plenty of use over the next few days. Now if only we could work on those naps...
