Party Bus

It was a much overdo child-free weekend for Dave and I.  On Friday night we met my Mom in Walnut Creek and made the switch.  She took Drew and we got to go out on a date!  I can't remember the last time we saw a movie!

So Dave and I sped off to see "Avatar" in 3-D.  WOW!  Was that ever awesome.  We then had drinks and appetizers at Applebees.  To our surprise it was Happy Hour after 9pm.  NICE.  Of course we're old and we were home and in bed by around 10:30pm.

Saturday, we had the luxury of enjoying sleeping in - well not really sleeping in, but at least we were able to lounge around in bed without someone yelling at you to get up and feed them, or get juice or put on a movie...

Then that's when the fun began - we were meeting Dave's friend for a Birthday Party Bus trip to Napa & Sonoma!  Our first stop, V. Sattui in Napa.  The last time I was there - was 10 years ago, so it was nice to see the old place again.  It was the last winery in Napa to charge for their tastings.

From Napa, we hopped back on the bus and ventured over toward Sonoma, for our next two wineries.  Jacuzzi and Cline. At our first of the two wineries, Jacuzzi we managed to get a few group shots of us.  Obviously our bus driver wasn't much of a photographer... but hey it works.

Jacuzzi had some good wines - very much Italian influenced.  And best yet, the tasting was free!  As was their sister winery across the street, Cline Cellars.  I have to say I was impressed with the Cline wines.  For one they were reasonably priced, and two they had a lot to choose from.  Growing up in Antioch, I knew a lot of the grapes were grown over there.  So I guess it's a bit of "home".

I only snapped one decent shot at that winery..

After Cline we had the whole drive home to party!  Beers were flowing, music was jamming and well we were all getting crazy!

Yes that would be my husband doing the moonwalk on the moving bus.  He managed to get everyone fired up with all the music and shenanigans.

It was a great day, and it didn't end after we got off the bus.  We had some pizza at the Birthday Boy's house and then went to Dave's favorite local watering hole.  It was at said watering hole that I made some big mistakes.  Like playing beer pong.
I'm in my 30's and I haven't learned my lesson about mixing drinks or getting involved in drinking games that I have no business playing.  Needless to say it was a rough night and morning.  I recovered long enough to go out to Grammy and GrampC's to pick up our little man.  I was great to see him again.

Scrapbook Saturday - Vino

As I mentioned last week, one of the big theme in my scrapbooking is all the wine tasting we do. I created this page with some inspiration taken from a layout discovered in a magazine.

Another glimpse from Drew's first year album...

I had the wine colored paper, and then cut down a gingham style paper for the edge. I then trimmed three wine tasting photos, and bumped them up to each other.

To the left side of the photos I used foil colored stars to "tack" the photos down. The letters on this page are all stickers I had from when I tried working on my wedding scrapbook (work in progress).

Now the wine glass - was a stencil a friend had. I meant to use the "inside" of the glass for the page, but it didn't look right. But the "scrap" part was pretty neat looking - especially when I matted it up against another "wine colored" paper. So that's what stuck.

Sometimes plan B's work out for the best!

We Have a Sickie

We have a sickie in our midst, and finally for once it's not Drew!  Dave has had a cough for several weeks, and on Tuesday he stayed home from work, saying he didn't sleep well the night before.

Then he said he wanted to stay home again on Wednesday, and HE suggested he wanted to make a Doctor's appointment.  Mr. "I-never-want-to-go-to-the-doctor-and-deal-with-the-co-pay-or-anything-they-tell-me".  So I knew it must be bad, if he actually wants to be seen. Dave goes, and then calls with the update.

Diagnosis: Pneumonia.  Lovely.

No work the remainder of the week.  No contact with Drew or I.  And they were concerned because he had a fever.  If the fever kept up our weekend plans were in jeopardy.

I could see my hopes of a fun, kid-free weekend dissipating before my eyes.  Instead, I had images of a kid-free weekend, and me playing nursemaid.  (Sure, I'm worried about Dave's health, and all, but darn it, I needed a day to relax and let loose.  So judge if you must, but I did have a selfish thought cross my mind.  At least I'm honest about it right?)

The good news, is the medicine they gave Dave started working immediately.  His fever has seemed to disappear, and he's still himself.  That was never an issue, just the pesky cough.  So it looks like we'll still have our fun weekend!  Whew.

Toddler Workout Video

Perhaps you are struggling with that New Year's Resolution to keep in shape this year.  Well here's a toddler workout video to show you how to work on those triceps...

OK well Drew's version of a push-up won't help you tone those arms in time for summer, but perhaps it's a great shortcut for your workout.

On a side note, I swear little booties are so cute in undies!

Why Bother Cleaning House?

Ugh, it never fails, I finally get around to cleaning the house, and then I'm happy with the way it looks and suddenly a hurricane comes rolling through.

That would be Hurricane Drew - a 2 year old monster.
On Sunday I actually straightened up the house - again - while Dave sat in that recliner and watched TV.  What did I get for my efforts, but a trail following me as I picked up room to room.

Sizing it Up

Talk about cheap thrills!  Drew found the measuring tape in my bedroom this weekend, and he's decided it's his new favorite toy.

I mean he spent hours in our room, just watching the numbers slide through his hand.  First forward, then backward.  Then he decided he wanted Daddy to play doggy with him.

Play doggy?

Yeah, that means Daddy runs through the house wagging the measuring tape back and forth while Drew crawls chasing after it.

Oh my, I think my child's a little odd.

Budda Belly Pillow

Sometimes all you need is a big comfy pillow to fall asleep.  Here Drew finds that on Daddy's belly/shoulder.

Of course Drew passed out on my shoulder yesterday at church.  Dude, this kid is getting heavy!  It's no wonder that my back is killing me lately. All that heavy lifting I do with him.  So why aren't my arms more toned?
