Another Shout Out for the 60/40

One more shout-out for Grammy and GrampC's 60th birthday - 40th Wedding Anniversary Celebration...

Back in October we visited my parent's church where my Aunt and Grandma put together a 60/40 reception for my parents after services.  Here are the pictures my sister took on her phone.

Last week we celebrated my niece Kady's 5th birthday!

 

Here is her little sister Chloe.  You have to capture quick pictures with her - she's a busy one.

 Drew did something he rarely does - he asked to draw! And for once it wasn't something completely gory or inappropriate.  He made a pumpkin with different items inside (which was at our request because of a homework assignment).

He did "customize" it with a lot of tombstones - which is apparently the cool thing for 6year olds.

And here is Grammy with a Candid of our youngest niece Avery.

I think all of these kids need to stop growing up so quickly!

Halloween 2013

Halloween 2013 started with the school parade, and this was our first at our new home school.  Here is Drew as the Kindergarten version of Obi Wan Kenobi...

They have all the kids parade around the blacktop.  The younger kids went first and made two circles.

A few of the older kids even played the Star Wars Emperial March!  The 5th grade version of it anyway.

Dave the scary circus clown was proud to have made several children cry (including our 1 year old neighbor) and made the 16 year old group of boys run screaming from our house, not once... but twice.

Homegrown Fright Fest

It's become an annual tradition, an adult only Halloween party at our friend's Brian and Stephanie's house.  This year was like years past - fun, entertaining and painful the next day.  Last year Dave had a rough day-after.  This time it was my turn.

 ... this is what had me in trouble that night and left me hurting the next day.  Starting with beer and switching to liquor, never been sicker.  Even at 19 I knew that.... so why 15+ years later I think things would be different is beyond me.

The hosts - Ted (Brian) and Dorothy (Stephanie) always know how to throw a bash.  Halloween wouldn't be the same without the annual costume party.

I have tons of other pictures, but let's just say when all these parents mix alcohol and costumes... it's an interesting evening and many pictures may not be very "family friendly" hehe.  Not to mention the more I drank the more unfocused the pictures were.... but I swear they looked perfect when I took them!

Another One Bites the Dust

Another one bites the dust... another tooth that is.  Drew lost his 2nd tooth a week ago and he of course has to make sure everyone knows it... at 4:30am.  We were staying the night at my parents house and he was in "his room" and Dave and I were across the hall in "our room" and all of a sudden we hear him screaming "Hey!  Where is everybody?!"

Thinking he was disoriented and not sure where he was, we ran to find him at the top of the staircase.  Still thinking he wasn't sure where he is - and after he woke the entire house... we find out he lost his tooth!

If you recall he swallowed the first one and was very disappointed.  So when I asked where this one was, he had that momentary deer in the headlights look and ran back to his room.  I managed to find it in the bed - whew.


So this time he had something to put into his special tooth fairy pillow case (courtesy of my coworker who gave it to him after the swallowed tooth incident).

Tooth fairy brought a $1 bill and a $1 gold coin this time around.

Campus Carnival

Last week, Drew's school hosted a PTA Fundraiser - their annual carnival.  I did my civic duty and volunteered for managing the Cake Walk - the Kindergarten class "booth".  This was especially interesting since I'd been out of town for work for the 3 days leading up to the event. 

Drew had a great time though!  I had to ring Drew in for doing the cake walk (he's in the striped shirt in the center of the photo).

 

No one was starting the cake walk and we had nearly 350 desserts to go through!  Unfortunately Drew didn't win but he had fun playing other games. 

Each class/grade sponsored a booth and handed out tokens for prizes.

 

 

 Dave and Drew finished up around 6pm and went home while I stayed around for another 2 hours to finish up.
 

Drew said his favorite booths were things he could throw and get a lot of tokens.

The Great Pumpkin Patch

About two weeks ago we went out to the big pumpkin patch at the Dell'Osso Family Farm in Lathrop where they have everything you can imagine when it comes to pumpkin patches.

Drew enjoyed climbing the tire mountain while we waiting for some friends to join us.

And we walked through the patch while Drew tried out a few pumpkins.

And then he found a few disguises...

When our friends showed up, we started doing a few of the activities... first up Mining for "gold".  Drew is in the orange shirt and our friends are on either side of him.

The kids then climbed around the pumpkins and posed for a few pictures...

The highlight of the day - the pumpkin canons.  The older boys were talking about sneaking off only the younger boys wanted to watch Daddy shoot some off.  They asked at the counter if they could shoot too - the were ecstatic to find out they could shoot! 

We did a few more activities as well but the while the adults were ready to leave, the boys wanted to ride on the race way.  They were bummed that the line was so long, until the found out they could go first if they rode the trikes.  So they did!

We finished the night with Dinner out.  Drew still can't stop talking about that day he shot the Pumpkin canon.
