Just a little note..

Since Drew started going to day care I received daily notes about what he did.  Things like when he ate, when he slept, his diapers and anything interesting to note.

Now that he's pretty much potty trained we don't get these reports anymore, since every day is essentially like the next.  About the only time we get a note, is if she needs something like pull-ups or if he did something interesting.

On Friday I received the following Note:

Worked on his numbers today.  He knows 1-50 and probably up to 100 he just doesn't want to finish his numbers with me.

Knows 60 of the words on my sight words flashcards.  That's not counting a few colors that are not in it.

Knows about 10 Presidents.  (Kills me he knows some that I don't even know)

We started on spelling shapes today.  I bet by late next week he will know those too by sight.

Wow!

"I'm Priceless"

This past Saturday it was Garage Sale Day at Grammy and GrampC's.  It's the annual, clear-the-crap-out-of-your-house-and-make-what-you-can day.  Our final take home - $46 and change. 

Drew was mighty fiesty early in the day - after going to bed late, and getting up at 5:30am.  Needless to say at 9am, he was in desperate need for a nap, but that didn't happen.  So as the good parents we are, we tried to sell him at the garage sale.  However if you asked him how much he was, he's say: "I'm priceless".  Thanks a lot GrampC for teaching Drew that one - we could've at least made an extra $10.

To keep Drew out of our customer's hair, we managed to entertain him in Grammy and GrampC's front yard.  First it was teaching him how to roll down the grassy hill.

Oh and the hula hoop, Grammy wasn't able to sell that one after all - Drew laid claim on that one. 

We did however sell one of Drew's old toys that he played with for the first time as some guy came up to buy it.  I congratulate us for distracting him enough to say goodbye to it, and we pulled him in the house for a well timed "juice break".

Another great distraction... the pipe near the front tree that apparently housed Oscar the Grouch.  Drew kept yelling into the pipe "Hello in There"!

It was a great day to just hang out outside, enjoy family and well, make a few bucks.

Going TP'ing

Um, leave the child home sick with the husband and you find out your child went TP'ing.

OK so he didn't really go TPing but he did proceed to unroll the toilet paper.  I swear this kid just loves to see things go round and round - I mean it's no surprise he loves his "spinners".  And I've shown you the measuring tape fettish.

So now that we're potty training, Drew's now into toilet paper.  Lovely.

Park Tour

After being gone for the better part of two weeks, Dave and I really wanted to find things to do as a family.  And since the weather was absolutely beautiful this weekend, we wanted to do everything we could outside.

We started the morning by hitting a few garage sales - and managed a great pick-up, but more on that in a minute.  The first round of garage sales were a dud though, and Drew was getting antsy since we didn't let him out of the car.

That's when we spotted our first park - in the tour of parks we did that day.  It was at an area elementary school.  Nearby they were playing baseball, which of course really grabbed his attention - he can't wait to play himself.

After a bit, we went home, got a shower in, and then wen to the store to get the fixings for a picnic lunch for yet another park.  That's when we pulled out the garage sale find I mentioned a moment ago.

That's right, he has a big boy T-ball bat and Tee.  It was a total steal for $2 and  Dave couldn't stop talking about it all day Saturday.  So we gathered a few hard balls from the house and set out on our adventure. 

 

After a few rounds of batting practice, things got a bit heavy for Drew and he was getting frustrated.  So he played on the playground for a while.  I didn't take too many shots of that fun, I guess I was busy watching Dave and Drew and soaking up the sun. 

Sleeping Beauties

After two weeks of being on the road, I came back exhausted!  I suppose the fact I had a few 7am flights mixed in with some late nights didn't help.

So I successfully napped Friday, Saturday and Sunday - I can't remember the last time that happened and I wasn't sick.  I tried taking one with Drew on Friday and Sunday, but we succeeded on a lazy Saturday afternoon.

Daddy thought it would be great to capture the moment.  Did I mention that Drew hasn't wanted to leave my side since I've been back?  I think he's afraid I'm going to "disappear" again.

Child Labor

It's never too early to teach your child responsibilities.  Case in point, this weekend when we put Drew to work washing our cars.

On Saturday it was Jean Gray - Mom's car.  He was riding his bike before washing the car... thus the helmet.

Then on Sunday it was Bo Jackson's turn - Daddy's car.  I have to say Drew was really looking forward to day two of the car washing.  It's all he talked about on the way home from church.

You have to love the enthusiasm.  Let's see if he's still this excited about washing the cars when he's older and we force him to do it.

Oh we didn't break it to him that it's supposed to start raining today for the next three days... therefore ruining all his hard work.

Anniversary Celebration!

As you saw, Friday was our 5th Anniversary.  I got home from a full week of travel and had Dave get Drew from day care.  Then we had a family lunch of McDonald's.

Then it was time for a much needed nap - for Mama anyway.  Drew finally crashed on the couch.  By the time we woke up we were running late.  We were sending Drew to a sitter for the evening while we went out to dinner - Benihana - mmmmmmm.

Yes that would be us doing sake bombers in that second picture, and the picture above is a heart that our "cook" made for us.  Lucky for us we had an awesome group of people at our table - they were out for a birthday party.

It was a great evening!  Can't wait for the next 5!
