Bear with me... today I'm going to rant and rave a bit about someone who apparently has ZERO common courtesy, in hopes that you'd never do this to another parent.
Yesterday we were at Michael's because for one they were having a sale, and two I had some birthday money and gift cards to use. So when we pull into the parking lot Dave purposely parked the car at the complete end lot. Where no one ever wants to park... as far as possible from the store and right up to the street. There were only a smattering of cars there.
Fast forward to when we're leaving with our purchases and I'm getting Drew buckled into his seat. This I admit is always a production because well he's two and operates on Drew time. Not Mommy time. Not Daddy time. Not even turtle time... much slower. So anyway he finally settles in his seat and I'm starting to buckle him in and there's this blaring BEEEEEEPPPPPPP!
Some middle aged, white SUV driving, 80s hairdo beotch just freaking honked at me because my door was open so she couldn't park in the spot next to us. Um there were about 30 spots where we were near, but she had to rudely honk at us?! I was fuming!!! Thankfully all that popped out of my mouth was "Good Golly" since my oh so parrot-like child repeated my statement for the next 20 minutes.
I mean if you had to park in that very spot, give a courtesy half honk or better yet, wait 10-seconds for me to finish strapping the child in. It's not my fault you're driving a vehicle too big for you to park and you needed that space.
Well I said the words out of my mouth were innocent... my husband's not so much. Of course I tried to say something to the lady after she parked but it was quite obvious she was trying to "look busy" in her car. Searching for some invisible piece of lint most likely. Dave rolled down all of the car windows to wait to tell her off. Of course after about a 4 minute standoff we decided to leave. That's when evil middle aged beotch decided to make her exit. Dave yelled out the window at her as we passed by her in the street - thankfully the parrot-like child didn't repeat his statement. Drew was stuck on "good golly".
We figure she didn't realize I was in fact strapping a child in the back seat, and when she realized it she felt about the size of a flea. I hope karma bites her in the butt for sure.
Enough of my rant... and so that I don't leave you with such a sour post, here's a shot of Drew pretending he's a "spinner" - his term for a windmill.

Video Fascination
Whenever I turn on my computer at home, it's over. Drew instantly comes running up to me, tries to wiggle his way into my lap and says in his oh so sweet and innocent voice, "I watch spinners now?" Or perhaps it's "first you blog, then I watch spinners?". For the record it doesn't matter if I'm blogging, working, relaxing, playing games or chatting online. Everything should cease when he sees the computer is open.
And what captures the interest of a 2 year old, but things breaking on YouTube, most specifically this one video - of which there are about 5 or 6 variations...
I think Drew needs to get his own computer. I'm tired of fighting with a two year old about the fact it's my computer.

Potty Training Reward
Every kid I've come across has a fascination with something. Books. Movies. Elmo. Lightning McQueen. Flags. Video Games.
Well for Drew this fascination comes in the form of a windmill - otherwise known by Drew as a "Spinner". Well Since Drew did so well last week on the potty training front at day care, his reward was to go see the Spinners. Dave and I initially thought - heck we have to pick up a wine shipment in Livermore, why not just drive through the Altamont Pass, get a good look at the Spinners and grab some lunch in Tracy.
Well we hit pay dirt with the Spinners. Drew was in heaven when we pulled off the freeway so he could see his beloved spinners up close and personal (OK they were in the distance still - but he could gawk at them outside of a moving vehicle for once).
It is sooooo windy on the Pass (duh, they're lined with windmills for a reason right?), so this Mama ended up having to take her wind whipped hair back into the comfort of the car, while Daddy and Drew marveled at the Spinners going 'round and 'round. Seriously Drew was in heaven!
We then hopped back into the car and headed to Tracy where we had a VERY yummy buffet lunch and then hit the shopping center they call Outlets. Our shopping excursion lasted far longer than expected, and we never did make it to Livermore to pick up our wine shipment.
Oh well, it was worth it to see how happy Drew was go go back over the Altamont Pass and see even more Spinners going in the West Bound Direction.

Another Go-Round with Spinners
For an early birthday celebration we were in LA to visit Tata and Abuela, and the big Mouse (a.k.a Mickey Mouse).
Well that means another trek through the Altamont Pass - where they have the windmill farms. Or what Drew likes to call them "Spinner". Here's a better audio quality shot of his excited reaction....
Sorry about the jump cuts - I just threw it together, forget the fancy editing.

Camping 'Pinners
I mentioned last week Drew's fascination to "Spinners" otherwise known as windmills. On our way home from the campground we drove through the Altamont Pass, and came upon one of the windmill farms. Unfortunately they weren't moving this time, but he was still pretty excited about them.
Sorry about the low audio - I was taking the video on our new digital camera, and I'm still learning the ropes.

'Pinners
Last week I mentioned Drew's fascination with "purple fowers", but that's only one of the things that get him all excited. Another... "'pinners". Now what is a 'pinner you ask?
Well you and I may call it a windmill, but in the mind of a 23-month old, it's a 'pinner.
Occasionally a 'pinner can be a "fand" (aka a fan), or a pinwheel, but lately he's intrigued by windmills. He has a train set at home that has a windmill.
Going through the Altamont Pass or over Vasco Road, there are "'pinner" farms, and he sees a multitude of them. (Those who live outside the area, the Altamont Pass is what we go over to get to I5 which takes us to LA, and Vasco, well it's the "shortcut" from Grammy's to the Livermore wineries). So over the weekend after we picked Drew up at Grammy & GrampC's, Dave thought it would be fun to take him to see the 'pinners and pick up our wine shipment. So we did! Problem was, this was the view Drew had of the outside attraction:
Apparently we stayed a bit too long at Grammy's and he decided to catch his nap right as we hit all the 'pinners!
We I have paid for it ever since too. He has asked to see the 'pinners everyday after I pick him up from day care. Guess we'll have to plan another trip to see the 'pinners soon, so the kid can get his promised fix.
